Annadanam - nourishing devotees together

At Shri Sai Baba Temple, sharing a simple meal after darshan is part of how we gather as neighbours, families, and volunteers in Bellandur.

Devotees gathered at the temple after darshan

Our community

The temple as a neighbourhood anchor

Beyond daily aarti, this temple is a steady meeting place for residents of Green Glen Layout and families from across Bengaluru’s IT corridor.

Annadanam is not a separate programme from worship - it grows out of the same spirit of fellowship that brings people together for Thursday darshan, festival days, and quiet morning visits. Volunteers who already serve during aarti often extend that care to the kitchen and dining area.

We do not claim large numbers or grand statistics here. What matters is that anyone who comes with faith and respect is welcome to share a meal when it is offered.

Food as offering

Simple meals, offered with care

Annadanam - giving food - is described in our tradition as among the most humble and meaningful forms of seva. At the temple, meals are usually prasadam-style: vegetarian, prepared in the temple kitchen or with ingredients brought by devotees, and served after darshan rather than as a commercial canteen.

On many Thursdays and during festivals, more devotees stay for a shared meal. The menu varies with what volunteers prepare and what sponsors arrange - rice, sambar, vegetables, and sweets on auspicious days. We ask that expectations stay modest: the aim is nourishment and fellowship, not elaborate catering.

For devotees: If you have dietary needs or allergies, please mention them to a volunteer before accepting food. Children and elders are seated first when space is limited.

Serve with us

How to volunteer for Annadanam

Four steps - no prior experience required, only willingness to help quietly and respectfully.

Step 1

Visit or write to the office

Come during temple open hours or email saibaba.bellandur@gmail.com with your name, phone number, and preferred day (Thursday, festival, or general).

Step 2

Speak with the Annadanam coordinator

A committee member will explain the kitchen schedule, what tasks are needed (prep, serving, cleanup), and any dress or hygiene guidelines for that day.

Step 3

Arrive on your agreed day

Volunteers typically report earlier than aarti - often mid-morning on festival days or by early afternoon on Thursdays. Punctuality helps the team serve devotees on time.

Step 4

Serve with humility

Help as directed: washing vegetables, arranging plates, serving prasadam, or clearing afterward. Many families volunteer together; children may assist with adult supervision.

Sponsor or contribute

Contact-first contribution - no online payment

Families may sponsor a full day of Annadanam, contribute groceries, or support festival meals. All arrangements are made directly with the temple office so that dates, menus, and receipts are handled properly.

  1. Contact the office - visit at 109 Margosa Ave or email saibaba.bellandur@gmail.com with your preferred date.
  2. Confirm details - the committee shares indicative costs, menu notes, and whether your family may help serve.
  3. Contribute in person - payment or in-kind donation is accepted at the temple as per office guidance. Indicative Annadhana seva rate is on the sevas page.
  4. Join on the day - many sponsors choose to be present for darshan and a short participation in serving, if they wish.

Important: This website does not accept donations or payments. There are no payment links, UPI forms, or checkout flows here. Please do not send money to unofficial accounts claiming to represent the temple.

For general temple contributions beyond Annadanam, see contribute.

Quiet impact

What devotees and volunteers share

Shared in a humble spirit - not as promotional claims, but as how people describe their experience.

“After Thursday aarti, staying for a simple meal helped our parents feel at ease - volunteers made sure they had a seat.”

- A Bellandur family

“We sponsored one festival day. The office explained everything clearly; we were grateful to help chop vegetables alongside other devotees.”

- Volunteer sponsors

“I come when I can after work. The work is ordinary - peeling, serving - but it feels meaningful in Baba’s name.”

- A regular volunteer

Stories are shared with permission and may be updated as the committee collects verified accounts.
